We have just unveiled our brand new campaign focusing on the critical issue of renewable energy in the UK.
Our director, Ashok Sinha, said "The Government must make clean green renewables the number 1 energy choice for the UK".
Switching to renewable energy instead of using coal for electricity is one of the most important ways to prevent global warming spiralling above the 2°C danger threshold, protecting the world’s most vulnerable people from climate change.
But with the Government threatening to make coal power stations a mainstay of the UK's energy provision again, we need your help and all the tools at our disposal to challenge the current plans of politicians.
We are using a whole raft of tactics, including e-actions, stunts and face-to-face Energy Question Times with politicians to urge Government to phase out coal power stations that cannot capture their carbon emissions. We will argue that this, combined with a major investment in renewable energy, will be one of the most significant ways to achieve our emissions targets.
Fay Mansell, Chair of the Women's Institute, said, "The Stop Climate Chaos Coalition is now 4 million strong. We want the Brown government to take the lead and build a future powered by green energy."
