The Rio Connection
This June, 20 years on from the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, government representatives met at a ‘Rio+20’ summit to discuss sustainable development.
Here in the UK we focused on getting our local politicians to commit to a sustainable future. Local networks held events around the country and convinced 115 MPs to show their support for action on climate change by supporting our Rio Declaration.
115 MPs, 2 MSPs and 2 Welsh Assembly Members signed up to support the Rio-UK Declaration, as a result of thousands of e-mails, and local events around the country.
