From A to B? Or making A a good place to Be?
12 January 2013
A workshop on transport, or not transport.
Transport policy and practice, at both government and personal levels, badly needs systemic ‘outside the box’ thinking. Forget for a moment about things with wheels or wings, forget about roads, tracks, airports, forget about the ‘carrots and sticks’. We need to think about what creates the (excess) transport demand in the first place. The changes needed may require action on where we live, work, play, study – or pray – as much as on how we travel. And the changes may take a number of years to bring about.
