Take One Action is the UK's leading global citizenship film festival, led by film lovers, artists and globally-concerned citizens based in Scotland who believe that cinematic experiences can inspire lasting change.
The festival spotlights stories that connect us across the planet: from the Occupy movement to climate change, women’s global empowerment, fracking, international development and more.
All films include discussion with filmmakers, campaigners and politicians from Bangladesh, Israel and Palestine, Uganda, India, the US, Russia and the UK.
“Take One Action’s focus on empowering communities to engage with issues of global concern through great cinema is unique in the UK. This work is really, really important.” Ken Loach and Paul Laverty, patrons
“Want to change the world but not sure where to start? This festival will rouse you into action!” The Guardian
“Poverty, injustice and our separation from each other… have causes which can be examined, sung about, visualised, and changed. Take One Action Heroes do precisely that.” Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Many energy, environmental and climate change problems are global problems that need not only local solutions, but also concerted global action. How can Scotland play its part in helping to tackle these issues, as part of a union, or as an independent country?
