On September 14th and 15th several local homes in Linlithgow have agreed to open their Green Doors to visitors who are interested in the changes they have made.
Homeowners will showcase some of the improvements they have taken over the last few years. This free event, is also free of sales pitches and is geared more to let you talk to the people who own the homes and have real-life experiences of living in more sustainable homes.
We’ve a lot of different technologies to show in houses ranging from 1920′s through to new-build and below is a list of some of the things on show.
Solar PV (electricity from sunshine)
Solar Thermal (hot water from sunshine)
Mechanical Heat Recovery (fresh warm air heated by stale exhaust air)
SIPS panels (a method of modern house construction)
Internal cladding (insulating from the inside of your home)
External cladding (insulating on the outside)
Log Stoves (heat and hot water from trees)
LED lights (a better alternative to low energy bulbs)
Rainwater harvesting (supplying toilets with rainwater)
To arrange a visit, please phone 01506 670433 and tell us what things you are interested in. We will then organise a slot to visit one or more of the homes on the weekend of 14th/15th Sept. Note, please respect the home owners privacy. No pets please.
If you would like to open your own home up as part of this event, then please get in touch, the more the merrier.
