Show Green is Working locally

Cardiff Friends of the Earth group doing a local Green is Working Stunt

MPs can do one thing this spring that will clean up our energy supply for a generation, meet key targets in our Climate Act, and support our growing green economy:

Support an amendment to the Energy Bill so it includes a target to take the carbon out of our energy supply by 2030 (a ‘decarbonisation’ target)

But we need your help to get more MPs on board – and the best way you can do that is by piling on the pressure locally!

Public meeting with Ed Davey in Kingston for the Rio Connection
1. Join a public meeting near you: We're working with other organisations to coordinate 'Energy we can all afford' public meetings across the UK.
Find out if there's one near you, or organise one in your area

Julian Huppert in 'Green is working' stunt in November 20122. Hold a photo stunt with your MP: Invite your MP to a local photo stunt to show their support for the amendment, and get it in the local media. We have all you need to organise this:

Hackney-tower hamlets Friends of the Earth local group: Green is working action3. Hold a photo stunt without your MP: If your MP can’t (or won’t) attend your photo stunt, why not hold one anyway? You could send the photo to your MP and send a press release to the local media (see links above) – tell your MP you’re contacting the media and ask for a quote – preferably saying they’ll support the amendments!

Local group meeting Duncan Hames MP in Chippenham for the Big Climate Connection 4. Meet your MP: You could set up a meeting to ask your MP to support a decarbonisation target in the Energy Bill. If you're meeting your MP, don't forget:

Local media after lobby meeting in Radnorshire for the Big Climate Connection
5. Write to your local paper: You can do this instead of, or as a follow up, to meeting your MP. Try to join up with local businesses or community groups.

And last but not least... Please tell us what you’re planning!
We may know about others that are planning activity near you, so you could work with them. Do get in touch if you want any advice, and Good luck!
