Scottish Community Alliance

Scottish Community Alliance is a coalition of Scotland's community based national networks all of which work in different ways to support stronger and and more resilient communities. We publish a fortnightly briefing - Local People Leading - which is a mix of commentary on relevant policy and community action. You can subscribe to it via our website above.
Keep Scotland Beautiful

Keep Scotland Beautiful

Keep Scotland Beautiful is the charity that campaigns, acts and educates on a range of local, national and global environmental issues to change behaviour and improve the quality of people’s lives and the places they care for. We are committed to making Scotland clean, green and more sustainable.

Medsin is a student network and registered charity tackling global and local health inequalities through education, advocacy and community action. We have over 30 branches in universities across the UK, many nationally run activities and several national working groups alongside collaborating with numerous external partner organisations both nationally and internationally.

Nourish Scotland

Nourish Scotland is an NGO campaigning on food justice issues in Scotland. We believe tasty and nutritious food should be accessible to everyone, be sustainable, and be produced, processed, sold and served in a way that values and respects workers. We campaign for solutions that work across the board: we take a systems approach toward food and health, poverty, fairness, workers’ rights, economy, environment, climate change, land use, and waste.

NUS Scotland

NUS (National Union of Students) is a voluntary membership organisation which makes a real difference to the lives of students and its member students' unions. We are a confederation of 600 students' unions, amounting to more than 95 per cent of all higher and further education unions in the UK. Through our member students' unions, we represent the interests of more than seven million students.

One World Week

One World Week offers opportunities for people and organisations to come together at local events to explore how they can work together to build a more just, peaceful and sustainable world. OWW, working with partner organisations, mobilises local volunteers to organise events where people of diverse backgrounds can: acknowledge our interdependence; raise awareness of global inequalities and injustice and inspire action to increase equality, justice and sustainability, locally and globally. One World Week is around United Nations Day (24 October) but activity can take place at any time. OWW’s website offers opportunities to participate in SCC members’ campaigns.

Oxfam GB

Oxfam is a global movement of people who share the belief that, in a world rich in resources, poverty isn't inevitable. It's an injustice which can, and must, be overcome. We fight poverty at its roots, with simple, smart solutions. When injustice causes poverty, we stand against it. When disasters hit, we're ready around the clock to save and protect people, staying long after, leaving life better than before.
People and Planet

People & Planet

People & Planet is the largest student network in Britain campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the environment. We’re a student-led movement that empowers young people with the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to make change happen, at home and globally.

Peopleriver works to engage more and more people - helping them take action on the campaigns and causes that they care about, by spreading the word and highlighting opportunities – locally, nationally and internationally. They build stronger relationships between organisations and their supporters by placing an emphasis on the many different ways in which people can participate, rather then just focusing on monetary donations. Together we are a real force for good.

The RSPB is the largest wildlife conservation charity in the UK. With more than a million members and nearly 20,000 volunteers together we speak out for nature. It says Birds in our title, but we're also about other wildlife — it's all interconnected and you can't help one thing without helping all the others too. We work around the world, from people's back gardens to the ferocious southern oceans, saving species from extinction, protecting special places for wildlife, and motivating people to add their voice to ours.

SCIAF (Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund) is Scotland’s leading international aid and development agency. We work in over 15 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America responding to humanitarian disasters and providing some of the world’s poorest people with practical support so that they can work their way out of poverty and towards a better life. Here in Scotland we campaign to address the root causes of poverty and injustice so that we can create a fairer world for all people.
