Sustainable Procurement Bill welcomed

Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS) today welcomed the inclusion of a Sustainable Procurement Bill in the Scottish Government’s legislative programme.

Tom Ballantine, Chair of SCCS said:

“Scotland's public sector employs a quarter of Scotland's workforce and holds importance beyond its operational emissions.  If all public bodies, including central Government and local authorities, purchased local and sustainable food, locally sourced sustainable building materials, energy efficient buildings and appliances, and used low carbon vehicles, it would have a transformational effect in reducing Scotland's greenhouse gas emissions.”
