WEN’s December 2012 E-Newsletter Now Available

Call to Action on Nappy Waste

WEN is happy to announce that the December 2012 edition of our e-newsletter is now available to view here, and under the Resources tab above. Topics covered in this edition include WEN’s position on the advisory board of the NCVO’s ‘Vulnerable People and Climate Change’ project. There is news on the dissertation that WEN’s media volunteer Maria Crastus produced for Natural England about the Big Society agenda, and how its attempts to decentralise power are likely to impact on efforts to improve the environment. Defra has also announced a call for evidence for its forthcoming Waste Prevention Programme for England. Green MP and WEN matron Caroline Lucas has specifically asked what action this programme would take on nappy waste, and if it would encourage opportunities for reusable nappies. Finally, there is news on WEN’s Autumn Gathering, and on the joint letter that WEN signed in collaboration with Local Works, in support of the Sustainable Communities Act 2007, that was sent to all local authority leaders in the UK.
