New year, new VW?

How’s your New Year’s resolutions list going? We’re waiting to hear how Volkswagen has begun 2013.

This morning more than 25 Greenpeace activists protested against the carmaker’s stance on the climate outside the Vienna car show. Handing out leaflets and making the point that VW can do better, we were hoping that the company makes some strong commitments.

What might their new year’s resolutions look like? They might take a lead from our Rebel Manifesto, to support strong European fuel efficiency standards that will help us cut CO2 emissions and kick our oil addiction – and they might look to make fuel efficiency standard across all their cars.

We know VW can do better – the choice is theirs.

Volkswagen staff inside the car show were busy ignoring us. But we know they were nervous. And as Gandhi said: “First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.“
