Yes, it’s BWPA time again - don’t the months go fast? An ideal excuse to get out with your camera and capture some fleeting moments of beauty from the huge variety of natural wonders to be found in the UK - from our forests and fields to the seas and skies.

This year’s British Wildlife Photography Awards, launched on 1 February, is not just a chance to win a prestigious photography award, but also a first prize of £5,000 cash, among other goodies on offer.

Winners and commended entrants will also have their work showcased in a touring exhibition and a stunning book later in the year.

The BWPA is open to all photographers practising in the UK, amateur or professional.

There are 12 categories this year, including two new ones: ‘Botanical Britain’ - specifically focusing on trees, plants, flowers, fungi and algae - and ‘Natural Details’, which is all about celebrating the beauty of nature in close-up.

Specific awards are also offered for young photographers, and once again there’s a video category too.

And at WWF we’re delighted to be one of the BWPA sponsors again this year.

Full details of all the categories, the prizes, and how to enter, can be found on the BWPA website.

Closing date for entries is 4 May 2013. Good luck, and happy clicking!
