MRDF has launched an emergency appeal in response to the devastating impact of Typhoon Haiyan in The Philippines. Over 10,000 people are feared dead and early reports suggest millions more have lost homes and livelihoods in the storm.
The typhoon has caused catastrophic levels of devastation. The storm struck central regions of the Philippines still recovering from an earthquake that struck last month. Over 12 million people were in the path of the storm, including areas of the Philippines experiencing high levels of poverty, making affected populations more vulnerable to its impact.
MRDF’s emergency partner agencies in the ACT Alliance are currently assessing the situation on the ground. Early reports are that access to the affected areas is extremely difficult due to flash floods, landslides, fallen trees, downed power lines and damaged roads.

Join us in prayer
We come to you knowing that you hear the voices of those who call upon your name.
We join our voice with those in the Philippines who have been affected by the typhoon.
We bring to you the people who are now without homes,
the families who have lost those they love,
and the communities disrupted by the devastation.
May you be known to them as the one who comforts those who mourn,
the one who provides peace that passes all understanding,
and the one who acts with a mighty hand.
We pray for the humanitarian aid effort,
that people are moved with compassion
and respond practically to those who are now in desperate need.
All these things we ask in the gracious name of your Son, Jesus Christ.
