On Saturday 5 December 2009, ahead of the crucial UN climate summit in Copenhagen, tens of thousands of people from all walks of life will march through the streets of London to demonstrate their support for a safe climate future for all.

The climate crisis has been caused by the rich industrialised countries, but it is the world’s poorer majority who are paying the highest price, as extreme weather events become more common, freshwater glaciers melt, and droughts increase.

Oliver Tickell lecture in University of Glasgow

Oliver Tickell is the author of ‘Kyoto2: how to manage the global greenhouse’, a framework for a new climate agreement under the UN Climate Convention intended to replace the Kyoto Protocol beyond 2012. His talk will provide a stimulating and relevant proposal for the deal that needs to be secured at the UN climate change talks in Copenhagen in December.
